Greenwood Man Faces Charges Following a Shootout


A Greenwood man find himself behind bars following an attempted murder in connection with a shootout.

The incident happened last week, where 24-year-old Jacolby Whitehead allegedly found his ex-girlfriend with another man.

According to Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks, when Whitehead tried to shoot his girlfriend he missed, and instead hit the other man who then pulled out his own gun and shot Whitehead.

Both men were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Whitehead was charged Wednesday with attempted murder, 2 counts of aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Whitehead was brought to the Leflore County Jail where bond has been set at $500,000.
