State Representative Jay Hughes is on a campaign tour as he hopes to be the next Lt. Governor for the state.

Yesterday Hughes met with Bolivar County residents at the Senator's Place in Cleveland holding a "Listen and Learn" town hall meeting.

Hughes spoke of the things he wants to accomplish in the future, especially teacher support.

"What they really want more than anything else is respect. That's what they haven't had is respect. Our educators need more enforcement and support. They struggle with everyone pointing the finger at them when their the ones doing it for love because no one goes into teaching for the fame or the money. So what I'd loved to see is a lot less standardized testing a lot more focus on letting teachers teach, ending the exiting exams so we have an opportunity for graduates to graduate. And also to go through some training for technical schools because not everybody is going to go to college and that's okay."
