Highway 82 East near the intersection of Fairview was closed after an accident involving an 18 wheeler grain truck and a 1956 Fairlane Victorian.

Just before 11:00 a.m. this morning several Greenville authorities were dispatched to the intersection in reference of a large accident.

Witnesses on the scene tell The Delta News the driver of the 18 wheeler ran the red striking 72 year old Robert Coleman as he proceeded to cross the highway.

Coleman was headed to his business, Karpet Korner,  just across the street at the time of the accident.

Upon impact, he was ejected from the vehicle and the impact of the accident damaged a local uniform shop and a beauty and barber shop.

No one inside the building were injured.

The driver of the truck is hospitalized, however Washington County Deputy Coroner confirms, Coleman was pronounced dead at Delta Regional Medical Center.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
