Meeting to be Held to Discuss Greenwood-Leflore County Consolidated District

On Wednesday May 15th, The Greenwood Voters League will hold a meeting, concerning the new consolidated school district.

The meeting will begin at 7p.m. at the Elks Lounge.

Senator David Jordan says this is a big deal for the district, as this is the first year for the consolidation for Greenwood, and Leflore County Schools.

Guest speaker for the event will be Dr. Mary Brown, who is the Superintendent of the new Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District.

The public is invited to attend.

Senator David Jordan says. "Together we will have 5,000 students, that's a lot of students, probably will be next to one of the most largest districts in the Mississippi Delta. So they're coming to the voters league so they know that we're with them, and we're behind them, because we're all responsible and with 5,000 students they're going to need a lot of help and we're going to let them know the community is with them and behind them."

The first day of consolidation for Greenwood and Leflore County School Districts will begin this fiscal year, on July 1st.
