A new curfew has been issued for juveniles in the City of Drew. The Drew Police Department has issued this curfew in response to all the recent shootings the city has been experiencing and the vast majority of those shooting involved minors. This curfew is 9 p-m from Monday to Sunday for all minors under the age of eighteen.
Police Chief Terry Tyler: "What we have bee seeing here in the community lately here is a whole lot of juveniles out running the streets after the hours of 9 pm. And with that a lot of shootings have been going on, sometimes broad daylight and at night fall. We will be setting up road blocks and random checks different things making sure juveniles off the street. We are going to deal with them accordingly if they don't know where they are."
If a minor is caught they will be picked up and brought to the police station and the parent will have to come pick them up. They will go before a court judge where they will receive a verbal warning for their first offense. A second offense will result in the parents being fined for delinquency of a minor. This curfew is effective immediately.
