A third suspect has been arrested in the attempted robbery and shooting of Charlie Hardin. Hardin was attacked by two men with a gun as he was getting out of his vehicle in late February. The men wrestled with the gun and Hardin was shot twice and Martavious Howard was shot seven times. Jeremy Cockerham was identified as the second suspect and Howard Harris is the third suspect. Officers received a tip that Harris was involved and his ankle monitor placed him at the scene at that time. 


The second suspect has been identified as Jeremy Cockerham,26. Cockerham will be charged with Attempted Robbery and Aggravated Assault. 


Original Story 

Shelby Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery that left two people shot.

Around 7:30 pm, Shelby authorities received a call in reference to two shot people near city hall.

Martavious Holmes and an accomplice attempted to rob a man who worked at a near by business.

The man put up a fight with Holmes over the gun and was shot twice.

In return the man was able to capture the gun from Holmes and shot him seven times.

Both are now in area hospitals, their condition unknown.

At this time, Holmes' accomplice is on the run.

The is an ongoing investigation.
