The town of Itta Bena held a special election for mayor on Tuesday, and it appears the incumbent will retain his seat.

Unofficial results show incumbent J.D. Brasel will retain the mayoral position over challenger William McGee.

Paper ballots were cast and counted on Tuesday and show Brasel with 149 votes to McGee’s 69.

The special election was held after a much closer race in June and subsequent discovery of irregularities and a missing tape from a voting machine.
