One Delta community is a step closer to getting a new mayor,

Unofficial results from Indianola's Democratic primary show challenger Ken Featherstone ahead of Mayor Steve Rosenthal by more than 500 votes. Featherstone received 1,420 to Rosenthal's 882.

In the Ward 3 race, Alderman Ruben Woods defeated challenger Toniesha Jones 257 to 215.

There may be a runoff in Ward 4. Alderman Marvin Elder had the most with 202 votes, followed by Dreifus Smith with 160, and Jessica James Everett with 59.

If a runoff is necessary, it will be on Nov. 2.

And in Ward 5, Alderman Sam Brock won with 212 votes. Challengers Caroline McCarty and Rosalind Love received 158 votes and 27 votes, respectively.
