Greenville Public School District named its new interim superintendent at a special board meeting on last Friday.
After a unanimous vote, Greenville native, Dr. Debra Dace, was named interim superintendent.
There were 16 applicants for the position of interim superintendent, however only two were given an interview because of the process the board chose to take.
School board president, Dr. Loretta Shannon, stated the names of the applicants were not released because it was deemed a personal matter.
Dace has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Mathematics from Delta State University, a Masters in Education, an Education Specialist and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education Leadership from the University of Mississippi.
She also has a background in training education leaders.
She is currently serving as Director of Teacher Quality/Accountability and Administrator of the Juvenile Detention Center in Leflore County School District.
