A weekend fire claims the life of a Clarksdale mother and son over the weekend.

According to published reports, Clarksdale authorities were dispatched to the 700 block of Seventh Street around 5 a.m. Saturday morning in reference to a house fire.

Authorities were able to make to the scene and get the mother and son out of the burning home, however they did not make it.

The son was found at the front door, and the mother inside the back bedroom.

At this time it is unsure whether the fire was arson or accidental.

The state fire marshal is investigating..
