A Leland man is now behind bars after allegedly murdering his girlfriend.
46-year-old Corey Jimerson has been arrested and booked on one count of murder for the alleged shooting death of his girlfriend, 39-year-old Kimberly Johnson.
Authorities were called to the 100 block of McGee Street around 11:30 Thursday morning in reference to shots being fired.
When police arrived, they found Johnson with several gunshot wounds.
Police say Jimerson fled the scene but was later arrested in Greenville by the Washington County Sheriff Department.
Leland Assistant Police Chief Marcus Davis says this is not the first time authorities have been called to that residence ...
"Yes they've had several incidents between the two that has resulted in I guess this situation," says Davis.
Jimerson is being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
