Residents in Coahoma County can now be relieved after word the hospital will remain open.

In September, Curae Hospital Management filed bankruptcy on several hospitals including Northwest Regional Medical Center near Clarksdale.

Curea CEO Steve Clasp says the hospital's volume had declined, leading to setbacks.

In the wake of the shutdown, Coahoma County Board of Supervisors fought to keep the hospital open. Now Community Health Systems will take over December 15th.
